Case Study: Elsight Halo BVLOS Drone Connectivity Streamlines Hurricane Helene Recovery
Censys Technologies, a Florida-based manufacturer specializing in endurance fixed-wing drones for commercial and defense services, played a vital role in Florida’s post-disaster assessment in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The hurricane was particularly deadly with its high winds and flooding, killing more than 230 people in Northwestern Florida and other U.S. southern states in September 2024.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) sought rapid, large-scale data collection to assess damage and coordinate emergency response. Therefore, the FDOT turned to Censys Technologies with VTOL UAVs empowered by Elsight’s BVLOS reliable connectivity platform, Halo, to support their disaster response efforts.
Elsight's Customer Phoenix Air Unmanned and Shell complete offshore BVLOS operation
Phoenix Air Unmanned, LLC and Shell Pipeline Company (SPLC) have successfully completed another remotely piloted aircraft milestone with flying offshore cargo delivery proof-of-concept flights under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) beyond visual line of sight approvals. PAU has contracted with SPLC for these research and development flights using a 192-pound turbine-powered SwissDrones SDO50V2 helicopter. The aircraft flew 38.5 miles cruising at 40 knots from SPLC Gibson Terminal, Louisiana, and landed on Ship Shoal 28 in the Gulf of Mexico. The SwissDrone SDO was refueled and flew back to SPLC Gibson. These flights lay the groundwork for future regulatory approvals, unmanned aircraft performance standards, and wider adoption of remotely piloted cargo delivery across the oil and gas industry.
DroneUp Receives FAA Part 135 Certification for Drone Delivery
Certification Enables Expanded BVLOS Operations in Dallas Fort Worth
DroneUp has announced a major milestone in its drone delivery efforts. The company has secured a Part 135 air carrier certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This certification allows DroneUp to deliver third-party goods using drones Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS), even in populated areas.
Elsight (ASX:ELS) welcomes Australian trial to streamline approvals for drone flights near airports
Among those welcoming the expansion by the Australian Civil Aviation Authority (CASA) of a trial which allows commercial drone operators to apply for fast authorisations to fly in controlled areas near airports is Elsight’s (ASX:ELS) Chief Executive Officer Yoav Amitai. This month, CASA announced the Automated Airspace Authorisations Trial (AAAT) would be expanded to controlled areas at Broome, Cairns, Coffs Harbour, Essendon, Hobart and Melbourne airports. Elsight provides reliable connectivity for drones to have continuous communications with their ground control centres, thereby enabling Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) flights.
